According to the Sports paper Abola in Portugal Benfica are trying to persuade Inter Milan's David Suazo to ignore a bid from Roma and move to Portugal, but the Italian Tuttomercato has reported that Man City are now trying to get a slice of the action.
The injury to the Bulgarian striker Valeri Bojinov has alerted Mark Hughes to the fact that he will need another top-class striker for this season.
Now that City have secured a £30million loan from the bank to finance some incoming transfers, they now have the cash in hand to outbid Benfica.
Suazo is currently in Mexico with the Honduran national team, but Inter are doing all the negotiations regarding his sale. It is unlikely they will allow him to go to their title rivals Roma, so it seems to be a straight fight between Benfica and Man City.
Roma's bid was reported to be €10million euros and if City have to pay a little more for the 28 year-old, it won't affect their ability to bring in some more signings with the change from the £30million they have at hand.
